I forgot that I haven't written in awhile. Gary and Sue came down too about a week ago and Ethan and Gabi had a great time hanging out with his grandparents. Gary worked most the days but was able to hang every evening with us. Greg also worked...so Sue and I organized a majority of the stuff I had left to organize in the apartment. She was a huge help with the kids and the house. She washed a million dishes while she was here too. It was a huge help. Greg's mom was also coming down for about a week and we were really excited to hang out with her, but unfortunately she was not able to make it at the last minute...but she will be coming to Springfield during Christmas so we are SUPER excited to see her there.
My mom also came down the weekend we moved. She was a huge help with the move. I don't think Greg and I could have moved without her. I couldn't lift any boxes and was still recovering after Gabi's birth 2 weeks prior, so I couldn't really do MUCH. Our friends all came over and helped which was awesome too. We decided to move during one of the heaviest down pours here in Texas. The guys did a great job loading the truck without getting any of our furniture wet. The truck stalled however on the way to the apartment, so that was lovely! Greg went through water about a foot deep without realizing it until he was in it and the free truck we borrowed from the Seminary stalled out. So Greg and our friend Kevin managed to get the truck into a parking lot to let it dry out and then they drove it to the Seminary to let it sit overnight. The next morning our friends showed up again at our new apartment and helped unload everything. My mom and I went back to the old apartment and cleaned the place with the help of my friend Mandy. We got to work and cleaned pretty fast.
My mom was a trooper though. Before we moved I had stuff still needing to be packed and my mom helped me pack all of it and she had to carry all the odds and ends and heavy boxes out to the car while Greg was at work. Then once we were all moved in to our new apartment, my mom unloaded all the boxes and our friends Victor and Lyndsey came over and helped unload all the boxes and put things away for me. They were awesome. My mom was only here for 4 days, but I felt she was here for over a week due to everything she got done while she was here. We were SAD she had to leave but she teaches and had to get back to her school. We took some great shots with her and the kids and like I said earlier, I now can’t find them on my computer.
Then after everyone left and I was by myself now with the two kids…it was very hard. I had to figure out how to adjust to having two kids instead of just one while also being tired due to waking up every 3 hours to feed Gabi. I felt like I was neglecting Ethan because I was tending to Gabi all the time but that is expected when you have a newborn. I feel like I spend a little more time with Ethan, but still not as much as I would like. I still hadn’t unpacked all the boxes due to taking care of the 2 kids while Greg was at work, so a friend from church Patti Kay offered to come and help for a day unload boxes. She came and got to work unloading almost every box I had left to unpack. She was amazing. She organized my whole closet with all my clothes and shoes and unpacked all of Greg’s books as well as organized our front closet, Greg’s shoes and our DVD’s and VHS’s.
So now I still haven’t organized every closet, cabinet or space the way I want it yet, but at least everything is put up and out of the way. I get out with the kids some. It is an adventure sometimes, and sometimes it is really easy. I am now trying to figure out how to organize my time during the day. I want to get so many things done and go to some many places but I can’t seem to do it all when I want and need to. So that is my stuggle I face at the moment. For example, I really need to get to the grocery store right now, but Ethan and Gabi are both sleeping. I also needed to write out a list, but it took me almost an hour and half to put Ethan down in his BIG BOY bed to take a nap. If I would have put him in the crib he would have fallen asleep in 2 minutes, but I have to teach him to take naps in his new bed now or he will never learn. So I was hoping to get out around 1, but now Ethan will sleep till 2:30 and then eat lunch so we won’t be able to get out until at least 3 which Greg starts heading home around 3:15 so it doesn’t leave me much time to be at the store. Oh well, it is worth it if I can teach Ethan to sleep in his new bed so we can get Gabi into the crib!!! So days like that happen all the time…I am sure all of you who had or have kids can agree on that statement! Well, I really need to make my list for the store now so I need to go. I hope in my spare time (I don’t have any right now) I can upload all my pics and videos I have taken recently!
Comments:Jamie: Chenille, you are an amazing mom! Every time I talk to you you sound so positive and upbeat. It is definitely harder with two kids and even harder to develop a routine for both of them. You are doing incredible though. Hang in there! I wish I could be there to help (or add more chaos with my two kids...haha). Sounds like you've had a lot of great help though. That's awesome! Love you guys!Add a comment:
