Ethan and Gabriela

I forgot that I haven't written in awhile. Gary and Sue came down too about a week ago and Ethan and Gabi had a great time hanging out with his grandparents. Gary worked most the days but was able to hang every evening with us. Greg also worked...so Sue and I organized a majority of the stuff I had left to organize in the apartment. She was a huge help with the kids and the house. She washed a million dishes while she was here too. It was a huge help. Greg's mom was also coming down for about a week and we were really excited to hang out with her, but unfortunately she was not able to make it at the last minute...but she will be coming to Springfield during Christmas so we are SUPER excited to see her there.

My mom also came down the weekend we moved. She was a huge help with the move. I don't think Greg and I could have moved without her. I couldn't lift any boxes and was still recovering after Gabi's birth 2 weeks prior, so I couldn't really do MUCH. Our friends all came over and helped which was awesome too. We decided to move during one of the heaviest down pours here in Texas. The guys did a great job loading the truck without getting any of our furniture wet. The truck stalled however on the way to the apartment, so that was lovely! Greg went through water about a foot deep without realizing it until he was in it and the free truck we borrowed from the Seminary stalled out. So Greg and our friend Kevin managed to get the truck into a parking lot to let it dry out and then they drove it to the Seminary to let it sit overnight. The next morning our friends showed up again at our new apartment and helped unload everything. My mom and I went back to the old apartment and cleaned the place with the help of my friend Mandy. We got to work and cleaned pretty fast.

My mom was a trooper though. Before we moved I had stuff still needing to be packed and my mom helped me pack all of it and she had to carry all the odds and ends and heavy boxes out to the car while Greg was at work. Then once we were all moved in to our new apartment, my mom unloaded all the boxes and our friends Victor and Lyndsey came over and helped unload all the boxes and put things away for me. They were awesome. My mom was only here for 4 days, but I felt she was here for over a week due to everything she got done while she was here. We were SAD she had to leave but she teaches and had to get back to her school. We took some great shots with her and the kids and like I said earlier, I now can’t find them on my computer.

Then after everyone left and I was by myself now with the two kids…it was very hard. I had to figure out how to adjust to having two kids instead of just one while also being tired due to waking up every 3 hours to feed Gabi. I felt like I was neglecting Ethan because I was tending to Gabi all the time but that is expected when you have a newborn. I feel like I spend a little more time with Ethan, but still not as much as I would like. I still hadn’t unpacked all the boxes due to taking care of the 2 kids while Greg was at work, so a friend from church Patti Kay offered to come and help for a day unload boxes. She came and got to work unloading almost every box I had left to unpack. She was amazing. She organized my whole closet with all my clothes and shoes and unpacked all of Greg’s books as well as organized our front closet, Greg’s shoes and our DVD’s and VHS’s.

So now I still haven’t organized every closet, cabinet or space the way I want it yet, but at least everything is put up and out of the way. I get out with the kids some. It is an adventure sometimes, and sometimes it is really easy. I am now trying to figure out how to organize my time during the day. I want to get so many things done and go to some many places but I can’t seem to do it all when I want and need to. So that is my stuggle I face at the moment. For example, I really need to get to the grocery store right now, but Ethan and Gabi are both sleeping. I also needed to write out a list, but it took me almost an hour and half to put Ethan down in his BIG BOY bed to take a nap. If I would have put him in the crib he would have fallen asleep in 2 minutes, but I have to teach him to take naps in his new bed now or he will never learn. So I was hoping to get out around 1, but now Ethan will sleep till 2:30 and then eat lunch so we won’t be able to get out until at least 3 which Greg starts heading home around 3:15 so it doesn’t leave me much time to be at the store. Oh well, it is worth it if I can teach Ethan to sleep in his new bed so we can get Gabi into the crib!!! So days like that happen all the time…I am sure all of you who had or have kids can agree on that statement! Well, I really need to make my list for the store now so I need to go. I hope in my spare time (I don’t have any right now) I can upload all my pics and videos I have taken recently!

Jamie:  Chenille, you are an amazing mom! Every time I talk to you you sound so positive and upbeat. It is definitely harder with two kids and even harder to develop a routine for both of them. You are doing incredible though. Hang in there! I wish I could be there to help (or add more chaos with my two kids...haha). Sounds like you've had a lot of great help though. That's awesome! Love you guys!

Ethan slept in his BIG BOY BED through the whole night for the 1st time last night! We tried 2 days ago and he slept in it until 4 a.m. and then got scared and came in to sleep with us because he wouldn't even sleep in his crib. Last night however, he slept in his toddler bed ALL night. He slept from 8:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m....YEAH! We will continue to try to have him sleep there and hopefully soon we can transfer Gabi into the crib. Ethan is getting to be such a big boy. He now waves at Gabi in her face and says hi dabs (Gabi) and then he will take her hand and try to wave it at him. Then Greg will tell him it's time to get your sister in the car seat and he will run over to Gabi with both hands out like he wants to pick her up and put her in her car seat. He also picks up her diapers and wants to put them in the trash. We bought him the cute fisher price toilet that has the happy dace on the back and has an actual flusher and part to put toilet paper on. He loves it...he just plays with it right now and just sits on it while we are going to the bathroom. We haven't tried potty training him yet, just getting him use to the idea of it and the idea of a toilet. He still waves bye bye to the poop and flushes the big toilet with help when we throw his poop from his diaper down the toilet. So he is in the starting process of potty training right now. No need to push him and rush him. He will be smart enough to figure it out when he wants too with a little guided help (haha!)

Gabriela is soooo cute. Greg and I love to just watch her every day. She has the cutest face and now SMILES all the time at us. She has been smiling for a while now. She even does the BIG smile where she will open her mouth with a big smile while sticking out her tongue. She is still feeding really well! She has the cutest facial expressions. She is very alert these days and looking at us as well as looking at her brother when he tries to talk and mess with her. Ethan has lately also tried to hit her with his toys and throw things at her...I think he thinks he is playing with her and wants Gabi to play with him too. Gabi is super long and we go to her 2 month check-up this week. My mom just sent us a cute outfit for Gabi for Halloween...she bought her a little pink onesie that looks like a skeleton. Then she made her a tutu to match. It is super cute. I found out after my mom came up that I somehow lost all the pics I took of her and the kids. I was very MAD because I had great shots of her and the 2 kiddos. Hopefully I can find them somewhere on my computer. I uploaded them, deleted them from my camera and then went back to find them later and they were gone. So if anyone knows how to pull them up on the SD card after I already deleted them from it...let me know! My dad also came up with his girl friend Sherri a week ago and they had a great time hanging out with the kids for a couple days. We met up with my cousins Katie, Ted and Thomas and we all ate at the Cheesecake Factory. Greg and my dad had never been so that was a lot of fun! Well, gotta go for now! More will come later.

    Hello everyone,

I just wrote a long blog but the computer kicked me off the Internet and I lost everything I just wrote =(. So I am going to try again!

Sorry I haven't written in awhile, I do not have much time to update these days as most of you can understand. I wanted to let you know what is going on in our lives and how I am adjusting to two instead of one!

As many of you know, Greg got hired at McAfee, which was a blessing since he got hired about a month after my last check came in from teaching. We moved into our new apartment a day after Greg got hired and that was about two weeks after I had Gabi as well. We had a lot of changes all at once but we are adjusting quite well. As most of you know, Greg and I are pretty easy going so the transition wasn't too much stress put on our lives. The roughest part is that Greg's work is an hour away so we can't have lunch with him or see him until he gets home from work. The good news is that he can start work at 6:30 in the morning and that allows him to leave work at 3:15 and get home about 4:30, which is great. We have been able to go on walks with the kids after he gets home.

Gabriela is amazing. She is sleeping 6 hours at night, which is great for us as long as we go to bed with her around 9. Around 6, she doesn't sleep very well so I don't get much sleep after that either. We all try to wake up around 8 or 9. Ethan has been sleeping very well still. He sleeps from 8:30 till 9 in the morning. He is a great sleeper and also takes great naps. We ask him if he is tired or if he wants to take a nap and he shakes his head yes and goes to his room to get his paci and blanket. We put him in his bed and he knocks right out. He has been a lot better now around Gabi with his whining. He doesn't hit her with his toys anymore either and gives her lots of kisses all day long. He loves being a BIG brother and calls her "dab" for Gabi. He is still saying the say words but we are working on new words. He signs "all done" and signs "more" as well as signs and says "please". He understands a lot more these days too. He will go get toys we tell him to go get. If we ask him to bring us something he will bring it to us. He also throws his diaper in the trash with some help. I have started taking him into the bathroom after he poops and we put his poop in the toilet and he flushes it down and then waves says bye bye to it. We just had his 15-month apointment on Monday and he is 22 lbs. 13 oz. and is 32 1/2 inches long. Doc said he looks great and is developing quite well. He loves the new apartment and runs all around getting into everything he is not suppose to be getting into. Gma Sue is here helping me all week with the kids and helping me organize my stuff. She has been a huge help and we have already gotten a lot done around the apartment.

Gabriela is doing great too. She still looks jaundice and I had to take her in for a 1-month appointment so they could prick her heel again to check her bili-ribin (sp?) numbers. She went from a 9 to a 10 which the still not that bad so they told me to continue to keep an eye on her yellowish color skin. They said it was breastfeeding jaundice so it was indirect rather than direct which would be worse. She is staying awake more and more each day. I am still breastfeeding, which is a blessing for us. She gets really fussy around 6. It seems like she is not getting full, but I have plenty of milk left and she just pulls off. So we are not to sure about that, we just try to calm her down and she usually falls asleep. At her 1-month appointment she weighed 10 lbs. 13 oz. At her 2-week appointment she weighed 9 lbs. 8 oz and was 23 ½ inches long. She had grown 2 whole inches in 2 weeks (haha!) We tried taking some family pics at the Japanese Gardens on Saturday…Ethan was not cooperating so that didn’t go too well, but we did get a few good pictures especially with Gabriela. I will write more later. I know this was a lot of info, but I needed to bring everyone up to speed on where we are at now and what’s going on in our lives.

Gabriela has arrived. My milk came in very quickly this time. Gabi latches very well, which helps bring in my milk. She likes to feed often. She sleeps all the time during the day. We are starting to wake her up more so she will sleep better at night. She still sleeps about 2 to 3 hours at a time at night which is really good. She never cries unless she is hungry or congested at night. Hopefully she will be as easy as Ethan was. Ethan is having a little trouble adusting to her right now. All he wantes to do is give her kisses and climb on her...so when we don't let him then starts throwing fits. It will be a little while till he understands. He is too young. Went to the doctor today for Gabi's first visit and she is doing really well. She is back up to her birth weight (8lbs. 9 oz) which is awesome after 5 days. So she is definitely getting milk from me which is a huge relief this time and a big money saver for our family. Ethan is whining in his bed right now so I need to go get him!

    Update on Gabi

I went to the doctor today. My nurse was mad that I hadn't had the baby yet because she had to make a whole new chart for me and will only put 1 entry on it, since I will be inducing on Wed...haha! The doc checked me out and said that I was dilated to a 3...I'm happy with that. I feel that I will not probably have the baby until Wed. when I am scheduled to go in at 4:45 a.m. for an induction, but you never know.

I feel I have been having a few little contractions...just ones that kind of leave a sick in your stomach feeling. They don't hurt, and I remember this feeling when I went in to be induced last time with Ethan when I finally saw on the screen when I was having a contraction. So we will see how the weekend goes. I have a achelorette party I am going to tonight, so hopefully I won't go into labor tonight!! My doctor told me to wait atleast until Monday because he is not on call this weekend...he is actually going to be going out of town.

Gabriela has been having a lot of hiccups lately...she has them right now and is shaking the laptop while I am writing this entry. I took Benadryl last night and it knocked me out about 12:30 and I slept pretty well all night...so I was really excited about that. I lost 1 lb. today...woohoo! I gained 3 last week though...boohoo =( Just relaxing today. Yesterday, I priced everything and got everything ready for our garage sale tomorrow. Hopefully we can sale some items and make some money!

I went to the doctor yesterday and got checked out. Baby is growing well, heart beat sounds awesome doc says. He checked to see if I was dilated. I am just dilated to a 1, which he said was good. I was dialated to a 2 when I went in a week early to be induced with Ethan. I am not sure if I will have the baby before my due date. I guess we will just sit around and wait. I do have a scheduled induction for Aug. 26th if I don't have the baby before then. I have to have the baby before the 30th due to my insurance running out from my teaching job, so my nurse scheduled me just in case. So we will definitely have a baby by Aug. 26th...yeah! Just wanted to update about my doctor's visit yesterday!

    Bye Bye!

Our good friend Brandon Stiko got married yesterday to his lovely wife Jennifer. Greg was the best man and Ethan was the ring bearer. Ethan looked adorable in his little suit. I will post pics as soon as I can. It was a FUN and chirst centered wedding. A number of guys that went to college with Greg and Brandon in Missouri were able to come...so everyone got to reunite and hang out. Ethan had a blast. Greg had to walk him down the isle and then I took him to his seat from there. He was quiet the whole wedding. Then at the reception...Ethan went to town. We sat right next to the dance floor, so he was danving all night long. THe guys had top hats and canes for pictures, so Ethan had to hold the cane all night long. I wish I would have taken a video of it, but I didn't. I will update pics soon!

Sorry it has been a month since I last updated the site. I have been extremely tired with Gabi growing in my belly. She has made sleeping very difficult for me lately which leads into me being tired the rest of the day because I am up and around with Ethan. Our family has been sleeping very late (10:00 one day) the last week because we are all very exhausted. We have been packing as much as we can pack before Gabriela comes. We have to move out by the 18th of Sep. We are waiting to hear from Cintas for a possible job for Greg. He has had 2 interviews with them and is awaiting there final call. We are praying that he gets this job, because if he doesn't then we really have no other options. I have one more pay check on Aug. 20th and then that's it for me.

Ethan is so much fun. We try to get things on video but when I pull out the video he stops doing the very thing we were wanting to catch on video or he just walks over to the camera and tries to take it from me. He has started kicking his soccer ball now. He started this week. It is halarious...and he is quite good at it already. He picks up his foot like he is marching, but just with his right foot. Then he will move over to the ball and finally kick it. He is also halarious when he wants to sit down on a step. He walks up to the step and about 5 feet away he begins to turn around backwards and walks backwards all the way to the step until he feels his calfs touching the step...and then he will sit down. He does it every time. We have started playing the radio for him during the day and he immediately starts dancing to the music. Also, in the car he is now front facing. Our friends let us borrow their front facing car seat since we don't have one and Ethan loves it! As soon as music comes on in the car, he starts moving his body side to side and moves his head forward and back. It is sooo funny! He is still talking all the time and is saying dog, duck, ball, bye, da-da and ma-ma. Another one of our friends gave us a used toddler bed since Ethan needs a bed to sleep in! We were super excited to get that from them and the mattress. The also gave us a fun play gate, clothes, toys and a backpack hiking kid holder thingy (if that makes sense?)

Ethan loves to climb on anything. He just climbed into one of his toy boxes and is sitting in it playing with his toys. He loves to go outside with us and walk around the block. He is now running everywhere rather than walking. He gets a few scraps as a result of his running! He loves to eat. He eats a lot of food at lunch and dinner and still is in the 27th percentile of weight...haha! He likes everything we have given him so far still. He loves to be tickled and thrown on to our bed by daddy. THe throwing on to our bed is a daily routine before Greg goes to work. When we drop daddy off at work, Ethan will grab Greg's chin with his hand and bring it to his mouth to give him a kiss goodbye. It is precious. Then he says bye and waves because he knows daddy has to go to work now. He loves giving real kisses now with his mouth closed. He kisses my belly all the time but doesn't realize he is kissing his sister! We are surprised to see how smart 1 year olds already can be. We will tell him to go get a specific toy or his sippy cup and he will go and find it and bring it back to us. Ethan is completely off his bottles. He has been only sippy cups for about a month now. He also has broke 2 more teeth up top...so he now has 6 teeth almost in. He was having a hard time during his teeth breaking through, but is back to normal now that they have broken through. He has also been a lot more whinny lately. We are working on that right now by spanking him and not giving him his way when he whines. He is sooo much fun still and we laugh at him every day and love him so much! He is going to be a great big brother to Gabriela!!!

Gabriela will be coming soon! A few more weeks to go. She was only said to be about 5 lbs. 1/4 oz. so there is no talk of induction this time before my due date...yeah! If I go past my due date then I will be induced before the 30th, because my insurance ends on the 30th of Aug. We still have a lot of things we need to get for Gabi. I am trying to use baby-r-us coupons I get every few weeks in the mail to buy things we need little by little. A big thinks to my dad for buying us Gabi's bedding set. We are really excited to have some decoration for her room and crib! We have plenty of clothes for her, probably more than enough. I just bought a diaper bag yesterday, so that was exciting! We are trying to get things ready. It is difficult though because we will be moving shortly after she comes. So she will be sleeping in our room in a pack-n-play and Ethan will continue sleeping in his crib until we move. She moves constantly in my belly (24-7). I can't sleep because she gives me a lot of indigestion at night. Last night was the worst. Greg gave me some milk and it made it much better so I could fall back asleep. She is also poking body parts out my stomach and it actually hurts sometimes. It is fun to just sit and watch my stomach move all around while she is moving. I am doing well except for being tired all the time. Trying to take it easy since I am getting really close to her arrival. I had been overexerting myself by packing and cleaning the house...so I am trying to relax a little more lately!

Sorry for such the long update. Lots to say!

We just got back from our trip to Missouri. My grandma and mom brought me back because Greg had to come back last Monday so he could work all week. I was able to stay a little over a week and enjoyed my stay very much. I wish Greg could have been with us as well so he could of helped me with Ethan. The grandparents tried to help as much as they could and I appreciate that...but Ethan wasn't letting anyone help him except for me most of the time. He is in a very attached stage to mommy right now. If I leave the room he starts crying till I come back. I can't even go into the bathroom without him having to come in with me. So it was tough without Greg and being 8 months pregnant.

I did a lot of driving too, but it was well worth it. Tuesday my brother and sister-in-law invited us out to their house in Rogersville to hang out with them and my nephew and niece for the day. Ethan played on their cool new playground set and went swimming with his cousins in their pool. Wednesday I drove out to my friend Sarah's house in Nixa to hang out with her and go swimming in her community pool. Ethan had fun hanging out in his crab. Then Thursday, I drove my mom and I out to Table Rock lake to go out on the boat my cousins had rented for the day. Ethan enjoyed himself...it was his first experience on a boat. Then we drove back to Springfield to catch my nephew Nathaniel's baseball game (he is 7). Then Friday, I drove out to Bull Shoals Lake which isn't the straightest road to drive on. It is curvy for about 45 minutes! Ethan and I went out to Gary and Sue's lake house and went out on their boat all day. Ethan again enjoyed himself and his nice soothing nap on the boat. I took Ethan on the sea-doo and he loved it. We went about 15 miles an hour!! We stayed the night at the lake house and then drove back Sat. around 2...then turned right around at 5 and drove out to my cousins house about 30 minutes away with my mom and Doug for a 4th of July celebration. Then on Sunday we drove 8 hours home to Texas! So...to say the least we did a great deal of driving!

While we were back in Missouri, we had Ethan's 1st birthday party! It was really fun...despite the 100 degree weather we had that day. I didn't think it was that bad inside the pavillion. It gave off a pretty nice draft. Everyone pitched in with making food and my mom and I made Ethan's cakes. My mom has always made our birthday cakes growing up and she did a fantastic job on Ethan's. I will put pics on soon. We had a construction theme, so we had made a construction area cake and had caution tape, raod signs, cones, and hard hats as decorations for the party. Ethan had a lot of fun and enjoyed his own little cake. He received some awesome gifts from friends and family as well as money that he can go and buy things he wants.

Ethan is talking more and more each day. We still can't understand him, but once he figures out the sounds he will be talking up a storm. He is waving a lot more now too, but he is waving at himself. He started blowing kisses this week with both hands and one hand. It is way cute! He decided he wanted to kiss my thigh at all times this week and kiss my hand. He has gotten taller and looks older. He is growing up too fast! He is so much fun and we love every minute we get to spend with him. He missed Greg like crazy and smiled so big when he saw him again. He loves playing with his daddy and getting thrown and tickled by him.

He has created a fort now with pillows in our living room. He sits inside and holds a book and plays with his toys. He still loves his bumbo too...he climbs in it and stands up and then he will sit in it and pull himself out and then repeat the process over and over again. He is glad to be home where he recognizes everything again. He loved getting back into his own bed again too.

We all had a great time in Missouri and loved seeing some of our family there. Greg's aunt, uncle and cousins drove down from St. Louis one day just to meet Ethan. They had not met him yet and couldn't make it to the party...so that was a lot of fun getting to see them and having them meet Ethan.

    Father's Day

We didn't do much on Father's Day...we went to church, ate at Which Which and then had accountability groups that night. It was a fun relaxing day though. Today, however, my cousin Katie called us early in the morning to offer us some free zoo passes. Greg doesn't work on Mondays...so we took her up on it and we went to the zoo for FREE! Thanks Katie! We met up with her once before she headed home with some friends she had gone with earlier in the day. Greg, Ethan and I stayed from 11:00 to 3:00. It was around 100 degrees today, so it was VERY hot. What I like about our zoo though is that there is a great deal of shade everywhere you walk. They also have lots of places to step in and enjoy air conditioning as well as misting fans. Ethan loved it. I took a lot of pics...and will be uploading them soon. The Fort Worth zoo is awesome and has a lot of cool animals and exhibits.

Then Ethan went home and crashed because he had not taken a nap all day. He did so well though. I went to my doctor's appointment and everything is going great. Blood pressure is very good, no swelling yet (thank goodness) and baby is moving around like crazy and has a strong heartbeat.

Then we finally were able to celebrate Father's Day. Ethan and I took daddy to Texas De Brazil. This is an all you can eat meat restaurant. Brazilian carvers come around with all types of meat (pork, lamb, steak, sausage, chicken, etc.) and they cut you off what you want and serve you the entire time you are there. It is an awesome place...we just went there for our anniversary, but also VERY VERY expensive. However, we signed up for their eclub and they send us buy one get one's for Father's Day, anniversary, bday's, etc. So that is how we got to go. We also went with our friends Lauren and Jason and their kids Ashlynn and Kellis and Lyndsey and Victor and their son Carson. We had a table for 10 even though it was just 3 families (haha). All 3 of us are pregnant too, so in a couple of months it would have been a table for 13 for only 3 families. We all had a lot of fun and I will post some pics soon.

    Ethan's Development

He has been talking up a storm lately but we have no idea what he is saying. I think he will be talking soon. Yesterday I felt a sharp point on his upper jaw so hopefully he is starting to get some more teeth in. He has progressed so well in his walking. He has great balance. We think he is about to fall over when he goes a little too fast, but at the last moment catches himself with his balance and doesn't fall over.

He has started giving real kisses now. He almost looks like he is blowing up a balloon and then he puckers up and kisses you then blows out air to make a kissing noise. He thinks he is so cute when he soes it, and he tries to kiss you like 10 times in a row. He loves to laugh all the time. He is so ticklish and we can just throw our arms around and act crazy and he thinks it is halarious and can't stop laughing.

Ethan is a climber big time. My mom said that my bro and I were never climbers...so he must get that from Greg. He has no fear and will climb up on boxes in no time. He is very good at climbing too. We have to keep an eye on him just to make sure he doesn't climb on anything.

I am starting him on real milk hopefully tomorrow. We are almost out of his last can of formula...so we will see if he likes the milk. He should...his formula takes nasty and he LOVES that stuff!

    That's all for now.
